Family Bike Ride to Marcusen Park. Starts at the Mill Pond. Enjoy the trails to Marcusen Park and buy a ticket for an afternoon of amateur baseball! This game will feature both of Austin’s Amateur Teams, the Austin Grey-hounds and the Austin Blue Sox. - Cooking Tips and Trends will presented quarterly by the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Hormel Historic Home.
Jack Erwin, executive chef at The Cedars of Austin, will kick off the new Cooking Tips & Trends series with “Too Hot to Cook,” on Saturday, July 31st at the Hormel Historic Home. This session will feature five recipes appropriate for entertaining and easy to pull off in sweltering weather.
Erwin will use closed-circuit television cameras, mounted over the stove and prep area, to show participants a bird’s eye view of the preparations. Attendees will also get to sample some of the recipes presented.
Tickets for the class are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and entitle local food lovers the chance to shop local food and cooking vendors for an hour before and after class. Participants will also take home a class program with all recipes, shopping lists, suggested wine pairings and coupons.
