The The Austin Public Schools operates four elementary buildings - Banfield, Neveln, Southgate and Sumner - housing kindergarten through fifth grade programs. Ellis Middle School is home to our sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Austin High School offers comprehensive programming for grades nine through 12. Also housed at the high school is our Alternative Learning Center. Woodson, a community center, houses Early Childhood Family Education programs, preschool special education programs, Kids Corner childcare, and adult basic education classes. ![]() The goal of Austin Public Schools is success for all students, no matter what it takes. KSMQ-TV, KSMQ Public Television is Southern Minnesota's local public television station serving people from Mankato to Mason City and Fairbault to Winona. The 33-year-old station is licensed to the Board of Directors of Southern Minnesota Quality Broadcasting, Inc. which is a community board consisting of representatives from throughout the region. KSMQ is committed to providing lifelong learning opportunities that are educational and entertaining for people of all ages. The Austin Catholic School system operates a K-12 system, teaching Christian values along with traditional subject matter. Locations in Albert Lea, Austin and the new Owatonna College & University Center make it easy to complete one of more than 50 career programs or earn the first two years of a bachelor’s degree.
