opportunities to explore the arts and enjoy local

and public support necessary for many fine arts. The
Austin Symphony Orchestra, a swing band and
several choral groups perform on a regular basis. The

The Austin Arts Center in Oak Park Mall is a gallery for local artists to display and sell their work. The Paramount Theatre, Hormel Historic Home and Austin High School are examples of beautifully preserved historic buildings. The award-winning Austin Public Library demonstrates current architecture at its best.  Both the ears and the eyes will be pleasantly surprised by the performing arts. Remember grandpa’s story about the 10-mile walk to and from school? Remember how the trail was uphill both ways? A local storytelling group delights audiences with these heart-warming tales. The big screen consistently entertains young and old, alike. Classic and foreign films play at the historic theatre and first-run movies play daily in a multiplex venue. We are also home to many talented local theatrical groups that perform throughout the year, including Riverland Community College Theatre, Summerset Community Theatre and Matchbox Children’s Theatre. Not only does Austin have history, entertainment and the arts, but we are home to one of Minnesota’s top tourism attractions, the SPAM® museum.
