See what we do on the weekends
The POW/MIA memorial The local Chapter of D.A.V. has been
involved with helping Veterans for quite a long time already. In the past 4 years we have
joined forces with other chapters in Minnesota and joined the Trailer Program. This
program is called Trailer Program because the Department of Minnesota D.A.V. has trailers
that we all ship clothes to the Twin Cities in. Prior to the Trailer Program the Chapter
got it's revenue from having Swiss Steak Dinners that were served at The American Legion
Clubrooms or The Veterans of Foreign Wars Clubrooms. Once the Trailer Program took off
here in Austin, we haven't had any more Swiss Steak Dinners. We have been able to keep
enough revenue coming in through this program. The proceeds we receive from this program
are used in Mower County to Help Veterans. We have built wheelchair ramps and purchased
wheelchairs and walkers for needy Veterans. Also we donate to the Austin Area Veterans
Council who distributes baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. With the help of
Chapter members as Volunteers we can accomplish many things. Thank You to the Volunteers The Loading Crew Left to Right.
