YOUTH SPORTS
BASKETBALL
For girls
and boys in grades 2-5 Once again this year we will
start after the holidays! Let us take some of the stress out of December for you. We feel
families have enough activities during the holidays, why add one more. Our registration
will begin during the last two weeks in November, and teams will begin practice in
January, just in time to beat the winter blues. Please read the information carefully. If
you still have questions after you have read this information please feel free to call our
Office.
Our program will stress learning skills through lots of
participation and having fun. We need more parents involved this year. We are optimistic
about enrollment numbers, and we are planning on more teams with fewer players per team so
everyone will get more playing time. However, in order to make this work we need
participation from parents, older brothers, and sisters. Our program remains the
lowest priced program in town. In order to keep the price down we need
volunteers! We are in need of head and assistant coaches. Coaching is a very rewarding
experience and is a great stress reliever. Come and get involved. Please help us make our
program more successful. For coaching information call 433-1881.

Welcome to another year of Austin Youth Basketball. Our program is
committed to providing the best facilities, equipment and coaches possible so that you may
experience the rewards of watching your son or daughter excel.
Austin Youth Basketball is a non-profit corporation that develops a
basketball program each year through its Board of Directors. The Board meets monthly to
discuss equipment needs, tournament schedules, gym schedules and fund raisers. All
coaches, board members and parents volunteer their time to make this organization a
success. The Board is committed to providing the highest standards of safety and fun for
your child.
This will be the fourth year to run the in house program with
support from high school coaches. Boys and girls in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 will learn
fundamental skills taught by local school coaches each Saturday.
Depending on player numbers in these grades, AYB will field two
levels of travelers teams to compete with schools in the surrounding area. The 5th and 6th
grade will have evenly balanced teams. The 7th and 8th grades made have two different
levels. We encourage all of the parents to attend our Saturday In House programs and
travelers tournament games. This positive attention is good for the players and fun for
the parents.
Equipment Requirements Each player will be
provided with a black and white numbered reversible jersey at the first scheduled in house
league practice. This jersey will be returned at the end of the season. Suggested
equipment: t-shirt, knee pads, mouth guard, double pair of socks, and tennis shoes.
Austin Area Skaters Association
AASA intends to provide a safe, clean, positive environment to
