"I fell in love at the Paramount Theatre...five times!" Anonymous

"The Paramount is a part of our heritage and culture and should be preserved so that this and future generations will be able to enjoy it. Austin needs a place for young artists to present their talents and experience the thrill of performing. Growing up before the age of TV, it was a source of entertainment and a special meeting place for young and old alike. I have many fond memories of sitting through two or more showings of a romantic film on a single Saturday or Sunday afternoon. We MUST preserve the Paramount as one of the few remaining lovely buildings in Austin." Esther Plehal

"I can remember standing in lines that went down and around the corner to Meir Wolfe and Sons (now Brick’s) and anticipating a funny movie, stars in the ceiling and dill pickles at the refreshment stand! So many people have these great memories...we just can’t lose another beautiful old building." Gretchen Ramlo

"This is a community jewel. There are really precious few assets that can uniquely represent Austin, and this structure is an enormous asset. For us to dismiss this building as unimportant is just plain wrong. It could be to Austin what the Buckingham Fountain or John Hancock Building are to Chicago!"George Brophy

"The Paramount holds a special place in my memories. I’ll never forget attending Mary Poppins with my family. The beautiful, lit up marquee, the wonderful movie, the mystical castle-like interior...I’m hopeful that my children will be able to experience some of those same magical Paramount memories." Nel Surdy

"The Paramount, that grand lady of downtown Austin. She gave to us for so many years; entertainment, excitement and romance! In pre-television days she gave us a window to the world! Now we must answer the call and give to restore and preserve this precious landmark. Everyone can participate. Large or small donations...we can use them all!" Bob Radloff

We welcome your memories, too...We’d love to hear from you!
